Daffyd

Daffyd has had a number of roles since graduating from the Gateway to Construction course, including various short-term plant roles on HS2. More recently, NIS Group has secured a 16-week role as a gateman on a new build housing site in Nuneaton via Nelson Permanent Placements.

Since leaving school I had done a bit of plastering and some labouring on construction sites but I really needed the skills and qualifications the NIS was able to offer.

It felt like this was an opportunity to upskill and when I found out the course was held walking distance from where I live, it seemed perfect.

The course was really good and the trainers brilliant – they just made everything make sense.

Beyond just what I learned, what was really important was the opportunity NIS Group gave me to put those skills to use and help me to secure work. Each placement has been another piece of experience which keeps adding up.
