James took part in the Gateway to Construction course and since graduating has found work on the flagship £500m City Centre South redevelopment in Coventry through MadiganGill.

I’ve been in Coventry for eight years having moved here from Kenya.

For five or six years I was working in healthcare but during Covid I did some agency work helping with deep cleaning on HS2 sites which made me want to look to a different career.

I found the course very useful and the trainers were great. Some of the stuff from healthcare does transfer across, the way we have to plan things and a lot of the health and safety related learning.

Now I’m working in construction with the help of NIS Group, close to where I live which is a huge boost for me. I would recommend the course to anybody, be open minded and work hard.
