CEO - NIS Group

As the CEO of NIS Group, Davie leads with strategic vision and a relentless focus on empowering people and creating positive social impact. With a background in strategic business development and leadership, he has a proven track record of driving growth and innovation. Davie is by nature an entrepreneur and is recognised for his ability to inspire and motivate teams. 

Under his guidance, the group has expanded its footprint, forged key partnerships, and achieved consistent growth. Passionate about fostering a culture of excellence and pushing boundaries, Davie is dedicated to shaping the future of the group and delivering value to stakeholders.

  • Dave Sargent

    Operations Director - NIS Training

    Dave is responsible for driving forward Education and Quality in training strategies, transforming capability, and delivering best-in-class propositions. As well as leading divisional strategy, business model and training propositions for developing education / commercial partnerships.

    As Operations Director, Dave is responsible for leveraging funding revenue streams, transforming training functions and growing quality-assured / industry-accredited courses aligned to changing trends, fulfilling employer requirements, the skills mix and implementing digital technologies.

    Group Operations Director

    Matthew is an experienced business leader with a proven record for delivering sustainable growth built around client experience and satisfaction. Offering expertise in operations, implementing innovative methods, and driving organisational success by fostering a positive working environment and building a culture based around the wellbeing and success of its people.

    Matthew embodies the company’s values of integrity, excellence, innovation and courage in all actions and setting the tone for others to follow. Leading by service and example, ensuring that our values are not just words on paper but ingrained in every aspect of our operations and guiding everyone with their actions.

    Driven by making a difference and removing barriers, Matthew engages with those who need us, leaving no one who we can help behind. Ensuring that our duty is to impact every person who learns with us, their families and their communities in a positive way through training, upskilling and sustainable skilled employment.

  • Dave Hersey

    Technical Director - NIS Consulting

    Dave started his railway career 23 years ago in Signalling, working his way up through site-based roles such as Installer, Team Leader, Point Fitter, Tester and Supervisor to become PE, CRE-C and PM on several multi-million pound schemes, with the majority of his time spent in track renewals (plain line, S&C and High Output).

    With his career predominantly working for contingent labour suppliers he has had the opportunity to work with a wide range of Principal Contractors as well as direct for Network Rail and is still active in supporting several PCs with advice, guidance and mentorship in both planning and on-site delivery.

    Dave likes to remain operational and maintain his Testing certification, IRSE Licence, membership to the IRSE, role as an IRSE assessor and his continued engagement with the companies that plan the works and their staff on the ground delivering it, is a massive benefit to ensuring our understanding of what our learners need is current and relevant.

  • Chris Dyke

    Training Manager

    As the Training Manager, Chris oversees all aspects of our training initiatives. His responsibilities include developing cutting-edge training programs that align with industry needs. By identifying these needs, he designs curricula that equip candidates with the qualifications in demand by employers. Chris is committed to ensuring that each course we offer provides candidates with an exceptional training experience, thereby upholding the high standards and reputation of the NIS Group.

    To achieve this, he works closely with the business support team to ensure that our training staff have all the resources they need to deliver each module effectively. This allows our trainers to focus on imparting their extensive knowledge and expertise to the candidates.

    Additionally, he collaborates with the Head of Quality to assess the strengths and areas for improvement among our training staff. By sharing best practices and addressing weaknesses, we continuously enhance the overall quality of our training programmes.

  • Ryan Trumpeter

    Head of Quality and Compliance

    As the Head of Quality and Compliance for NIS Group, Ryan drives quality and compliance across the education department. This involves overseeing the internal quality assurance of course delivery, documentation, and assessments.

    His role ensures that NIS Group maintains compliance with standards set by education institutions, including colleges, awarding organisations and accreditation bodies. By implementing and upholding standards of training and assessment, this ensures that our learners receive fair, valid, accurate and reliable assessment standards of the skills and knowledge they have developed throughout their learning journey.

    The impact of these standards positively benefits learners and employers with the comfort knowing that the qualifications held are of the highest possible standards.

  • Adele Robinson

    People Manager

    Adele’s role as People Manager is to oversee and ensure the smooth running of the day-to- day operations of NIS. Some of these responsibilities include managing a small administration team, managing online and paper filing systems, delegating work to staff and managing their workload and output and overall productivity, promoting staff development and training and to develop and implement new administrative systems, such as record management whilst also taking on some HR and accounting duties.

    By collaborating with management and leads within the business Adele continues to provide the support for the company and staff by implementing policies and procedures that will help build organisational efficiency. This ensures that we keep a nurturing and positive working environment where we are able to grow, thrive and develop to be able to break down barriers within the industry.

  • Shaughna Maynard

    Engagement Manager

    As Engagement Manager, Shaughna is dedicated to bridging the gap between training and employment, ensuring that our candidates transition smoothly into rewarding long and sustainable careers in transport, rail and infrastructure. Whilst also driving the Employability and wider NIS teams to provide our trainees with the skills, resources, and support needed to succeed in a competitive job market.

    Shaughna is passionate about empowering individuals to reach their full potential and committed to fostering strong partnerships with industry leaders, employers, and community organisations. By leveraging these connections, we can deliver training programmes that align with current industry standards and job market demands, giving our candidates a distinct advantage.

    Additionally, in actively collaborating with community organisations to reach under-represented populations, we are ensuring that opportunities are accessible to all. Our inclusive approach broadens the talent pool for employers and helps bridge socio-economic gaps, contributing to a more equitable society.
